Dr. Lara Houston - VMD
Dr. Houston grew up in Pennsylvania and is a 2000 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced in Florida, Pennsylvania, Delaware and here in Colorado for the past 6 years. Dr. Houston was married in 2007. She and her husband welcomed their first son, William, on Thanksgiving 2008. In 2010, they welcomed their new daughter Elizabeth into their family. They also share their house with a Peke and Pom named Ranger, and three cats. Dr. Houston loves to travel and has been to several countries in Europe as well as studied abroad in Madagascar and Ghana. She joined our team in 2006 and bought the practice in 2010.
Dr. Lisa Chase- DVM
Lisa Chase was born and raised in south Florida and has recently followed her life-long dream of living in Colorado. Dr. Chase lives in Castle Rock with her husband Gabe, daughter Gwendolyn and her two cats, Kuro and Shiro. Dr. Chase wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was very young and she accompanied her mother to the family veterinarian when her cat was injured. She had never heard of a veterinarian before and she was immediately hooked. She pursued that dream all through school, graduating from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, followed by an internship at Veterinary Specialists of South Florida. She finds great joy in helping pets and their human families. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Chase enjoys road cycling and recently got into running as well. She also enjoys several indoor hobbies including sewing, various crafts, and reading.
Monica Anthony - CVT, AAS
Monica has been with BVH since 1988. She attended the University of Colorado, Denver before going to the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. She lovingly refers to her home as the Anthony Ark. Along with her husband, Jim, they care for their three children - Alexis, Joshua and Zeke. They also have four dogs ; Gracie, Sierra, Chai and Diego along with four cats - Lupe, Ginger, Rafael and Maya. The Anthony's are in the process of building a straw bale house using solar and wind energy in the Canon City area.
Beth Reade - CVT, AAS
Beth is originally from Wilmington, Massachusetts. She has a busy family consisting of two girls - Jessica & Sarah and her husband Lupe. Beth spent four years in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. Several years were then devoted to her girls before she pursued a Veterinary Technology Degree. Beth enjoys painting, gardening, hiking, photography and sight seeing. She has two dogs - a Beagle named JT and a Lab Mix named Olive along with a cat named Boy. Beth graduated from the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology and joined our staff in 2000.
Anna Arenz- CVT, AAS
Anna was born and raised in Iowa; and growing up on a farm she became familiar with handling cows, horses, dogs, and the occasional feral cat. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a BA in Art History, Anna got a job working at an animal shelter where she realized that she wanted a career with animals. Her next move was to Denver to attend Bel-Rea where she graduated in early June of 2014, then joined the Bouton family soon after. In her free time she enjoys regularly attending crossfit, hiking, and doodling. She has a Boris (a cat) but pet sits as a second job and is looking to hopefully foster soon.
Melanie Schappa- CVT
Melanie, who started working at BVH in February 2015, was born with a love of animals! Growing up in Northern Michigan; dogs, cats and horses have been a part of her life as long as she can remember. After training and showing Morgan horses for a few years she took her love of animals to a new level by getting her degree and license as a Veterinary Technician. Melanie and her family moved to Colorado in 2012 and have been enjoying the beautiful weather, hiking with their two dogs, and going camping in the mountains!
Eric was born in Glenwood Springs and grew up in Littleton where he graduated from Columbine High School in 2002. He spent 4 years working as an adoption counselor at Colorado Humane Society, then the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley. Eric spent the next 4 years being a veterinary assistant at Goldsmith Veterinary Clinic. In his spare time, Eric plays lead guitar in the local Denver punk rock scene for the bands; One Time Crime, Trick Punch, Punk Rock Karaoke. He has a blind dog named Rocky and 2 cats named Finn and Butters. Eric loves many Colorado things; he is a fan of the Denver Broncos and an avid follower of South Park.
Michelle is originally form New Mexico and moved here at 1 year old with her family. She graduated from Columbine High School in 2002. She has extensive training in emergency medicine and was a paramedic for several years. She has a daughter, Jaycee, born in 2008. She also has two furry daughters- both are Australian Shepherd mixes.She loves to fish, camp, and cook with her Italian family. She is also an avid Broncos fan. Michelle joined the Bouton team in 2016.
Our Wonderful Kennel Staff
Rhonda is a Colorado native. She graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to get a Dental Assisting Degree at the Colorado College of Medical and Dental Assisting in Denver. Her and her husband have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. A black cat, Milagro, was rescued here at Bouton and became a part of the Meredith family that very same day. Rhonda enjoys traveling and scrapbooking. Her family's plans are to go on a cruise every 2 or 3 years until she can't travel anymore. She joined our team in 1998.
Kristina graduated from Bear Creek High School in 2008. She has 2 dogs: a princess Chihuahua named Bella and a Chihuahua mix called Romeo that she adopted in 2013. Kristina has 2 older brothers, who support her love of animals! Her interests include playing with all of her dogs, and she hopes to start training to learn how to be a groomer. She also likes to snowboard, and go snowmobiling. She loves arts and crafts, and spending time with her friends and family. She loves to read, and her favorite author is Dave Pelzer. She also loves the Twilight series. Kristina joined our team in 2007.
Heidi is a Colorado native and a graduate of Bear Creek High School. She has always had an interest in caring for animals. While still in high school she worked here at Bouton. She went on to work at another animal care facility for a number of years before rejoining our team in 2013. Heidi and her husband have two cats – Jazz and Melody. She enjoys musicals, travel, and card making.
Tina is originally from Texas. She graduated from Rockwell High School in Texas. Tina moved to Colorado with her husband Charles and daughter Chelsie. She also has two canine family members – Cami, a Pyrenees mix, and Sandy, a Yellow Lab. In her free time, Tina enjoys exploring the mountains in beautiful Colorado. Before joining our family at BVH, Tina was a stay at home mom.
An Thuy Than
An is a rare Colorado native. She is currently attending Columbine High School. She aspires to attend Colorado State University for Veterinary School. In her free time, An enjoys playing volleyball. At this time, she lives with 2 pets; she has a dog and hamster. An joined team Bouton during the Summer in 2016.
Tabitha is a pre-Veterinary student majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry at Metro State University. Her dream is to study Veterinary medicine at Colorado State University. She is a kennel technician at Bouton Veterinary Hospital and she also volunteers as a veterinary assistant at the Denver Animal Shelter. She loves animals; she especially caring for and looking after cats and dogs. Oreo, Luna, and Lily are her three cats, and Lil Miss Piggy is her guinea pig. She is also the proud mother of a two year old named Isaiah.
