Veterinarians:

Dr. Lara Houston, VMD

Dr. Houston grew up in Pennsylvania and is a 2000 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  She has practiced in Florida, Pennsylvania, Delaware and here in Colorado for the past several years.  Dr. Houston was married in 2007.  She and her husband welcomed their first son, William, on Thanksgiving 2008.  In 2010, they welcomed their new daughter Elizabeth into their family. They also share their house with a Peke and Pom named Ranger, and three cats.  Dr. Houston loves to travel and has been to several countries in Europe as well as studied abroad in Madagascar and Ghana.  She joined our team in 2006 and bought the practice in 2010.

 


Dr. Kristal Miles, DVM, CVA, CVFT, CCRT

Dr. Kristal Miles

Dr. Miles grew up in California. She moved to Massachusetts to attend Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2010. She completed a small animal internship in California before moving back to Massachusetts. While in Massachusetts, Dr. Miles became certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She completed her certifications for veterinary acupuncture, food therapy, and veterinary rehabilitation. She moved to Colorado in 2019. Dr. Miles shares her home with two pugs, Milo and Egor, and a hyperactive French bulldog, Ella. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dogs.



 

Technicians:

Beth Reade - RVT, AAS

Beth

Beth is originally from Wilmington, Massachusetts.  She has a busy family consisting of 3 adult children - Matt, Jessica & Sarah and her husband Lupe. She has one grand daughter.  Beth spent four years in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic.  Several years were then devoted to her girls before she pursued a Veterinary Technology Degree.  Beth enjoys painting, gardening, hiking, photography and sight seeing.  She has a Lab Mix named Olive.  Beth graduated from the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology and joined our staff in 2000.


Melanie Schappa- RVT, AAS

Melanie, who started working at BVH in February 2015, was born with a love of animals! Growing up in Northern Michigan; dogs, cats and horses have been a part of her life as long as she can remember. After training and showing Morgan horses for a few years she took her love of animals to a new level by getting her degree and license as a Veterinary Technician.  Melanie and her family moved to Colorado in 2012 and have been enjoying the beautiful weather, hiking with their two dogs, and going camping in the mountains!


Sally Lotspeich - RVT, AAS

Sally is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She has lived in Colorado since 1996. She loves playing volleyball, camping and doing anything around water. She attended Colorado State University for 2 years studying journalism before discovering her love for the veterinary world. Sally graduated from Bel Rea Institute in 2007 and joined the Bouton team in October of that year. After 9 years with Bouton, Sally decided to further her education by working in the Ophthalmology specialty at VRCC. She returned to our team in 2018. She and her husband Greg have a son named Finnegan and 3 dogs (Brinkley, Pepper and Potato Christmas). 


Veterinary Assistants:

Maria Spang

Maria

Maria joined the Bouton team September of 2020. She was born and raised in Torrance, CA and moved to Colorado in June with her husband and two senior fur babies Chancho & Peanut. Maria earned her degree is Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing & Management from California University Dominguez Hills in 2018. Prior to graduating, she worked as a veterinary receptionist and tech assistant for 8 years and wanted to continue her passion in the small animal field here in Colorado. On her days off she enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with her family.

Marissa Zollars

Marissa + Luis

Marissa began working in the veterinary field in 2018. She and her husband Merrit are Ohio natives who moved to Colorado to enjoy the mountains and the great outdoors. Marissa chose the veterinary industry because she loves making connections with people and their pets. When she’s not working, Marissa enjoys hiking, nature photography, and painting. Marissa and Merrit have one four-legged family member, an exuberant German Shorthaired Pointer named Luis. Marissa joined the Bouton family in September 2021.
